He made three stellar starts in high Class A to start his season, then climbed to Double-A and never sustained success. He's vulnerable against lefthanders, one of several factors that point to a relief role in his future. The Angels would have had to place him on their 40-man roster in order to protect him from the Rule 5 draft, but changes in the new labor agreement gave them an additional year to see how he develops."
